IT STILL STANDS NEXT TO WHAT WAS ONCE THE LAKE GEORGE BRANCH OF THE DELAWARE AND HUDSON RAILROAD BEGINNING IN FORT EDWARD N.Y., PASSING THROUGH HUDSON FALLS, GLENS FALLS, AND EVENTUALLY TERMINATING AT LAKE GEORGE N.Y.
THE COLLECTION OF MATERIALS INCLUDED IN THE KIT BOX HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY CHOSEN TO ACHIEVE A PARTICULAR FEEL AND LOOK, AS WELL AS INSTILL A CERTAIN MODELING EXPERIENCE DURING CONSTRUCTION.
THE WALL CASTINGS ARE ULTRACAL, SLIGHTLY STRONGER THAN HYDROCAL, BUT IT WILL ACCEPT INKS, PAINTS, AND GLUES IN AN IDENTICAL MANNER. I HAVE YET TO DISCOVER A MATERIAL THAT PRESENTS AS MASONRY BETTER THAN ULTRACAL OR HYDROCAL IN HO SCALE.
THE MONOLITHIC SLOPING SHED ROOF IS COVERED IN REAL COPPER MATERIAL ALLOWING FOR PAINTING OR THE USE OF BURNISHING FLUID TO PRODUCE A REAL PATINA IF YOU SO CHOOSE.
THE DECORATIVE ROOF TRIM PIECES ARE BASSWOOD COVE STRIPS.
THE CLERESTORY IS CONSTRUCTED OF TASK-BOARD AND COVERED IN CORRUGATED “METAL” PAPER SIDING.
THE SLATE SHINGLES ARE LASER-CUT PRINTED PAPER.
THE MANY WINDOWS, DOORS, AND STARBOLTS ARE STYRENE.
THE BOARDED UP WINDOWS ARE PRE-CUT BASSWOOD AND THE BOARDED UP DOOR IS SCALE PLYWOOD.
THE DOWNSPOUTS AND CHIMNEYS ARE 3D PRINTED RESIN.
TWO FULL SETS OF STENCILS ARE INCLUDED FOR THE GHOST SIGNS.
ALL OF THESE MATERIALS CULMINATE IN A BUILDING WITH MANY INTERESTING TEXTURES.
THIS BUILDING HAS A 10” X 8” FOOTPRINT.
THIS KIT REQUIRES INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED LEVEL SKILLS TO ASSEMBLE AND PAINT.
